This project required the engine block to be held within + or -.001 of an inch from end to end and side to side.  Engine head was to run parallel to cam and crank bores.  Fixture was to accommodate a variety of engine blocks and provide versatility for future products.

Tooling plates to align cam and crank bores parallel to fixture were used for each block type.  Plates are easily changed for new models making the fixture very versatile.

Hydraulics were chosen as a clamping method and a unique self aligning system was used on the movable jaw to control accuracy of the clamped engine block.

This system has proven to be both very accurate and speedy to clamp and machine engine blocks.
