A hydraulic press design was needed to remove and install valve guides in diesel engine heads.  This press was to operate within the production roller conveyor line.  The press would generate 26 tons of force to do the work.

To overcome the tremendous forces of 26 tons and keep these forces off the roller conveyor the press was designed as a floating box frame press.  In other words, when the ram contacts the work the lower portion of the box raises to make contact with the bottom of the work and all forces are contained within the box frame.

To control all the functions of the press, a PLC was used, two hand anti-tie down controls also were employed.

A similar design was also used to remove piston sleeves from engine blocks.
